Manually configure your preferred DNS servers on all of your clients (This is not a practical solution for most people - some devices don't support this, and it makes it harder for guests) TL DR: Now that several days have passed, I can somewhat safely recommend that most people should probably use Option I) Traffic Meter vs NTP auto Daylight SavingsĪlternatively, use the “Test” button on the Internet Setup page - the test button might be a little quicker and less disruptive (obviously not a great fix, as you will operably have to repeat this every few hours) "Fixes" So Far - These each work with various levels of pros and cons: (Edited as I remembered that I didn't change to my ISP provided DNS, Orbi did that on it's own after a reboot). This has worked when DNS stops forwarding to my PiHole, ISP DNS, Google DNS and CloudFlare DNS. Only thing I need to do to get it to start working again is: Log into the Orbi Admin Console, Navigate to the Internet tab, Click "Test" button. I have had the DNS stop responding several times since I switched back to using my PiHole as the DNS server.
Until it stopped again a few hours later.įrom this point forward I have not made ANY changes to the router, (and I had only changed the DNS server to troubleshoot) I am running current firmware version ( V2.7.2.104). So I switched back to specifying my Pihole as my DNS server, and everything worked fine once again. No DNS resolution (I could ping external IP's but not resolve them). Then about an hour or two later the same issue happened. So I left that in while I continued to look at the logs in my Pihole. Things started to work with that configuration. When I did, I noticed that it removed my DNS settings (PiHole) and set it to consume DNS from my ISP. I double checked, and everything was fine with that device, so I rebooted my Orbi. My first assumption is that I had an issue with the Pihole. Now I have a Pihole running so I have that configured as my DNS server in the Orbi Admin Console. Everything will be humming along nicely then all outbound DNS requests stop. Hi All, I've had my RBR50 for almost exactly 1 year, and this past weekend, I've started to have a weird issue.
